Smiling is a good thing, but as you age you may not like the deep nasolabial folds and wrinkles around your mouth that seem to become deeper every year. Multiple factors create these folds: the loss of fatty tissue that comes with aging, gravity, genetics, and being expressive. Many people feel that sagging and wrinkled skin make them appear older than they feel and wish they could correct it.
When you are bothered by the changes you see in your appearance, you may be a candidate for Vollure® in Houston. This dermal filler can be an excellent, non-surgical way to decrease and soften the folds and wrinkles in your lower face. Everyone’s lines vary, so you will not know how a dermal filler will affect you until we do an evaluation. During the last part of your consultation, our cosmetic specialist will create a personalized treatment plan to address all your concerns and needs.
Juvéderm® Vollure® XC is a member of the Juvéderm collection of dermal fillers. Like all Juvéderm’s fillers, Vollure is made of a patented, cross-linked version of hyaluronic acid that creates a smooth filler. Hyaluronic acid helps keep bodily tissues properly hydrated.
The filler not only keeps the surrounding area hydrated, but also stimulates collagen and elastin production. These proteins are key in maintaining a younger appearance as they fill in areas that have lost tissue due to aging. Vollure’s FDA approved special formulation helps best when used to decrease moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, which is what we do at our practice in Houston. It is well suited for use around your mouth as it can also tolerate the usual movements you make with your jaw.
All dermal filler treatments, including Vollure placement, are performed in our office in Houston. There is no need for a trip to a surgical suite or for heavy anesthesia. A topical anesthetic can be applied to the area where the filler is going to placed that will relieve any discomfort you have from the treatment. Vollure XC adds to this with a small amount of lidocaine mixed into the gel. If you have had reactions to lidocaine or related drugs you may not be able to use this filler.
Your treatment visit is short, so it is easy to fit into your busy schedule. You can also immediately return to your usual light activities afterwards. However, physically demanding activities will have to wait until the next day to allow time for the filler gel to stabilize itself into the injection area.
After the injection, you may see slight bruising or mild swelling in the treatment area. An ice pack can help decrease these problems rapidly. If you take blood thinning medications, you may not be able to use fillers. You may also want to stop heavy use of aspirin or ibuprofen for about a week before your injection appointment to help keep bruising down.
Allergic reactions, excessive bleeding, and infection are rare complications of Vollure placement. Nerve damage and facial asymmetry are very rare problems when dermal fillers a placed by the highly experienced staff at ShineMD in Houston.
Results start to appear immediately as the Vollure gel fills in the sunken area. You will see further improvement over the following days as your body responds to the stimulus to produce more collagen and elastin in the area. Results will have a natural appearance and be firm but touchable.
Vollure XC dermal filler is not permanent, but it can last up to 18 months depending on your body’s response. The more collagen and elastin your body produces, the longer the treatment’s effects will last. You are always welcome to schedule a touch-up or maintenance treatment appointment when you feel that your folds are getting too deep.
When you are ready to feel younger and get rid of those sagging areas on your skin, schedule an appointment with our cosmetic specialist. Only they will be able to know what the right treatment is for your specific problems. Vollure in Houston may be in your future as you work toward the younger appearance you deserve.
