You’ve been eating well and moving or exercising regularly, but you’re still having trouble shedding unwanted inches from some stubborn trouble spots. If you’re ready to get some help achieving the shape you want, but you’re not sure if non-invasive CoolSculpting® or minimally-invasive laser liposuction is the best option for you — we can help!
Understanding the differences between these fat reduction and body sculpting options is your first step on your journey to optimal health. To help you decide which solution is best for you, we’ve answered some of the most frequently asked questions about the two treatments here.
How does CoolSculpting work?
FDA-cleared CoolSculpting uses a process called cryolipolysis to freeze and disable targeted fat cells. Once these cells are disabled, your body eliminates them naturally through your urine. After they’re gone, you won’t gain weight in these cells again, though you can still gain weight in your remaining fat cells. That’s why it’s important to stick to your healthy living plan so you can enjoy your CoolSculpting results for the long term.
How does laser liposuction work?
At ShineMD, we proudly offer SmartLipo® laser lipo in Houston. Through a tiny incision, a fiber optic cannula (which is a small tube) delivers laser energy to targeted fat cells, melting them so they are easier to remove. The liquified cells are removed via the cannula using gentle suction.
What areas of the body can be treated with CoolSculpting or laser liposuction?
Laser lipo is ideal for slimming and toning the face and neck, upper arms, waist, inner and outer thighs, and male breasts. CoolSculpting is best for treating the chin, back (bra rolls), waist, abdomen, thighs, and upper arms.
How many treatments will I need?
With laser lipo, most people only need one treatment to reach their body contouringe goals. With CoolSculpting, you may need a series of treatments spaced over a few weeks or months to help you achieve your best results.
How much downtime is there with laser lipo vs. CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting®is a non-surgical, non-invasive therapy, so there’s little to no downtime. You can return to work or your normal routine immediately after your treatment. With laser lipo, your downtime will depend on the extent of your procedure. For most patients, one to two weeks of downtime is needed, during which time strenuous activities will need to be avoided.
