Brazilian Butt Lift results can be optimized with appropriate management of all three phases of surgery. These include
1st) the preoperative phase or preparation period,
2nd) the operative phase or actual surgery; and
3rd) the postoperative phase or recovery period.
1. The Preoperative phase, or preparation period
It is imperative that Brazilian butt lift (BBL) prospective patients not fall into the trap of trying to gain weight in an attempt to maximize fat harvest volumes. In fact, this weight gain will actually end up compromising your results. This is because when you gain weight, you don’t get more fat cells but get an increase in the size of your fat cells. Increase in fat cell size results in more of the fat cells getting popped when they are suctioned through the small cannula holes.
Instead, patients are recommended to make sure that they are at their comfort weight. Comfort weight is the weight that you don’t have to stress out to maintain. This ensures that the surgical improvements following surgery are maintained long-term. Another important consideration is your diet. We do not want you to be on a diet and malnourished throughout this journey. Remember that if your body is starved, it will look for sources of nutrition throughout your body; this is a bad idea right after surgery where the transferred fat cells are trying to thrive and build up their size rather than be expected to provide energy.
2. The Operative phase, or actual surgery
Optimizing BBL results requires the use of the VASER technology to maximize fat harvest as well as to optimize fat transfer viability. The VASER technology allows for the harvest of nearly 2x the volume of fat that can be harvested with traditional liposuction techniques. In addition, due to the ability to remove fat in a gentler manner due to the emulsification process, VASER technology allows for maximum fat viability. Finally, Dr. Mowlavi utilizes the Buttocks Assessment Tool to guide him to create the exact buttocks shape and volume desired by you.
3. The Postoperative phase, the recovery period
Patients must follow strict guidelines following surgery to ensure gained operative results are not lost. This includes the strict wearing of compression garments and customized foam in-lays that allow for maintenance of contoured liposuction areas and protection of fat cells as they are settling in their relocated buttocks and hip region.
A consultation with Dr. Laguna will provide you with everything you need to achieve your dream butt!
Brazilian Butt Lift before and after photos– What to look for
Brazilian Butt lift requires your surgeon to create a generous-sized and beautifully shaped buttock cheek. Prospective patients should look for smooth contour lines throughout especially at the junction of the upper buttock with the lower back and the lower buttock with the lateral thighs. A common mistake made by novice BBL surgeons is leaving too much upper lateral buttock fullness that is described by the shelf deformity created. Although nuances in shape and size are subjective and chosen by patients using the Brazilian Butt Lift Assessment tool, the overall buttock shape should be rounded and free of any wrinkles or cavitations referred to as cellulite. If significant cellulite is present in the lower buttock and posterior thighs, patients should be offered a lateral thigh and buttock tuck to supplement fat transfer. This addition will literally eliminate redundant skin and shorten the buttock height.
